I said to farmor Christine just before we left England that I thought George would become ill soon... Call it mother instinct... And on Thursday afternoon it was a fact. He complained over tummy pains, and had really high fever. Staying at mormors so that we could continue on the bathrooms, but she brought him home early Saturday morning since he was then really really poorly and I wanted him home and think he appreciated it too. Still complaining over tummy pains and hadn't eaten anything since Friday. When he doesn't even want his välling, there is something seriously wrong!
Drinking well though, which is a plus, but two projectile vomits added to runny 'you-know-what', and fever above 40 degrees. On Sunday we decided to take him to the emergency hospital in Söder, Sachska. Having never been, and didn't really look forward to going back (Sachska is a part of Södersjukhuset, where we spent the last few days with Arnfinn) but it was in a completely different wing so that felt ok. I was also amazed by the thorough examination they gave him!
First they did a 'snabbsänka'(CRP) to determine if he's got an infection or a virus. It came back really high, which is obviously the reason for them being continously so thorough. They swabbed his throat which came back negative but it was apparently a little gunky.. (Just realised that for you who don't have children and read this... haha, either you're really bored by now or feeling a little sick... haha). Then they did a lung x-ray! Just to rule out pneumonia. George was such a little trooper the whole time! Then we had to wait for him to wee... Which took donkeys! But finally he did and we left a sample, which didn't prove urine infection or njurbäckeninflammation (inflammation to the kidney and pelvis area), but they couldn't rule it out either... We got a return appointment for Monday 11.30.
So we went home. And went back in a couple of hours later. By then his fever was sky-high and he was constantly complaining over his tummy. So I didn't want to risk it. His CRP showed even higher this time, and they gave him some antibiotics. They also gave him a high dose of painkillers so the fever started to go down and when Matt arrived it was all fun and games! Which was a relief!
Monday came and he was a little better I thought. But still refusing the välling! Went back to the hospital and the urine test still didn't prove anything with accuracy but they will give it one more day before giving us the final diagnosis. His CRP was still very high, but it was slightly lower than the evening before at least. His mood is much better though and that proves to me at least, that he's on his way to recovery!
Will keep you posted, but think this is one of his worst sick spells so far!
