Our garden taking shape

And it's looking fab! Lawn will hopefully be put down within the next couple of weeks, and Matt spend the weekend tidying up the path and levelling it, me and George picking blueberries and helping out...
A little... Click on the images and they'll come up bigger!

Deer in the garden!

Look how close they came!

Visiting Torö

Last Sunday, myself, George and mormor Eva took a trip out to Torö to visit Petra and her family at their summer house. The weather was lovely and warm and we enjoyed a very nice lunch on the patio - warm smoked salmon, cheese quiche, smoked prawns, salad and dips. Yum yum!

Then we went for a short boat ride. George was especially impressed by the djungle part with the hidden hippos (went through a passage of very tall water grass...)

After some hide and seek and some football practice, we had coffee and cakes! Matt's chewy cookies made an appearance and Petra's mum Gunilla had made a very nice blueberry and coconut cake! Deliscious!

Needless to say we were all very happy and tired when we got back to our house...

Saturday baking

We've started baking on weekend mornings! A very nice little routine indeed. And a tasty one! Last Saturday, Matt and George made American cookies. They were deliscious! Chewy and big!

Orgie in narcissism

Right, normally this blog is for you guys to see what's up in the life of little Mr Curious George and his family. This post is a little more narcissistic than usual... Almost one year ago, we took part in a photo shoot for one of Matt's clients, a housing company. We had such a fun time and many of the photos came out so great! Since I'm so proud of the outcome I thought I'd share some of them (hrmm, quite a few actually) with you.

Hide your car keys!

Just got this picture from mum, of George trying to drive her car in the summer... He's very determined you have to give him that, he obviously know where the feet are supposed to go...

George's favourite sentence...

... at moment is: 'Det gör inget'/'It doesn't matter'. He uses it whenever he does something he's not supposed to, by mistake or on purpose... If he's been eating a biscuit on the sofa, leaving behind loads of crumbs, and I point this out, he goes: 'Det gör inget mamma'/'It doesn't matter mummy', and then a big smile... You can't get cross with that...

The talented Mr George

Yesterday morning, George ate a sandwich (or actually, it was a piece of bread, nothing on it) whilst watching tv. All of a sudden I hear him going: 'Piuu piuu piuu'. I look over, and he's bitten his sandwich into the shape of a gun! Apart from the fact that he chose to create a weapon (he calls it a 'spray/spruta' so don't think he's got the true meaning of it...), isn't that quite amazing! What a creative little poppet! I'm a very proud mum!

He's returning...

George is finally returning to normal (though a little thinner)! We went for a last check-up today and his CRP was down to 70 which was a relief. He doesn't have a fever and is more or less his cheeky little self, apart from a little more tired and a little skinnier... He's also regained his appetite! Or, he's never been much of an eater, but he eats, which is good... Still no välling, I think it's bye bye välling time, but he's drinking milk instead and that's fine.

So even though today was the last check-up, they want us to go in tomorrow for a kidney x-ray(!). His urine tests haven't given any clear answers apparently, and since he's responded well to the antibiotics he's been given since Sunday evening, they can't take a new one, but most likely it was a urine infection, or a kidney infection, so the antibiotics we've got now is for kidney infection, and that's also the reason for the x-ray tomorrow... Phew, hard work this, but very relieved that the doctor's are soooo good! Now you all know.

King of Välling is no King of Välling no more

I said to farmor Christine just before we left England that I thought George would become ill soon... Call it mother instinct... And on Thursday afternoon it was a fact. He complained over tummy pains, and had really high fever. Staying at mormors so that we could continue on the bathrooms, but she brought him home early Saturday morning since he was then really really poorly and I wanted him home and think he appreciated it too. Still complaining over tummy pains and hadn't eaten anything since Friday. When he doesn't even want his välling, there is something seriously wrong!

Drinking well though, which is a plus, but two projectile vomits added to runny 'you-know-what', and fever above 40 degrees. On Sunday we decided to take him to the emergency hospital in Söder, Sachska. Having never been, and didn't really look forward to going back (Sachska is a part of Södersjukhuset, where we spent the last few days with Arnfinn) but it was in a completely different wing so that felt ok. I was also amazed by the thorough examination they gave him!

First they did a 'snabbsänka'(CRP) to determine if he's got an infection or a virus. It came back really high, which is obviously the reason for them being continously so thorough. They swabbed his throat which came back negative but it was apparently a little gunky.. (Just realised that for you who don't have children and read this... haha, either you're really bored by now or feeling a little sick... haha). Then they did a lung x-ray! Just to rule out pneumonia. George was such a little trooper the whole time! Then we had to wait for him to wee... Which took donkeys! But finally he did and we left a sample, which didn't prove urine infection or njurbäckeninflammation (inflammation to the kidney and pelvis area), but they couldn't rule it out either... We got a return appointment for Monday 11.30.

So we went home. And went back in a couple of hours later. By then his fever was sky-high and he was constantly complaining over his tummy. So I didn't want to risk it. His CRP showed even higher this time, and they gave him some antibiotics. They also gave him a high dose of painkillers so the fever started to go down and when Matt arrived it was all fun and games! Which was a relief!

Monday came and he was a little better I thought. But still refusing the välling! Went back to the hospital and the urine test still didn't prove anything with accuracy but they will give it one more day before giving us the final diagnosis. His CRP was still very high, but it was slightly lower than the evening before at least. His mood is much better though and that proves to me at least, that he's on his way to recovery!

Will keep you posted, but think this is one of his worst sick spells so far!

Engarland 2010 - Generations

Toby came to visit with Marian on Tuesday. And great grandma Doris came down too! Farmor Christine played tricks with the dollies and I managed to get a snap of all of them together!

Engarland 2010 - Picnic in Ampthill

Sunday was picnic day! Auntie Laura and Uncle Tim came up from London, Laura had made very cute and yummy cupcakes! Tom came with Emily and William, little cuties! George took quite a fancy to Emily and was very willing to hold her hand to show her farmor's chickens...

Picnic food was delicious! Chris had prepared scotch eggs (my first ones, how good are they!) and sausage rolls, there were tuna and ham sandwiches, tomatoes from the garden, melon, pineapple and cherries. And Laura's cupcakes of course. What a feast!

And to complete the picnic there were of course the games... The run fastest between to posts; the run fastest backwards between two posts; The hop on one leg, the run on all fours, which George won but not by running on all fours...

We ended the day at the playground where Matt and Tom did the obstacle course... Hilarious! Tim filmed it, will try to see if I can get a hold of the film!
