Farfalle at Kulturhuset

Yesterday, I took George to see a performance at Kulturhuset. It was called Farfalle, which is Italian for butterfly. There were two dancers who performed on a seemingly interactive floor, with walls and ceiling covered in projections. The story was of the butterfly life cycle and children were invited to step onto the 'stage' and take part in the show. Unfortunately, George wasn't asked up, even though he was jumping in his seat haha...

It was such a lovely lovely experience, right from the start even, when they asked all the children to walk into the stage area on a long line, without the parents! I just watched George walking away, looking really excited, and then sit down along with the rest of the children on the front row. When the parents were allowed in, I sat down just behind him, and during the performance, he kept turning around, checking to make sure I saw all the brilliant things happening too!

All the children, and the adults, were mesmerised by the dancers and the projections. A shame it was only on for one day, I wish more people would have been able to see it!

Afterwards, we met up with Jelena, Bojan and Adrian and Matei, and went to Rum för Barn (Room for children) at the top of Kulturhuset! George and Adrian went nuts and ran around like maniacs which was very funny but also a little scary, cause there were lots of people about, and escalators... Inside Rum för Barn, they were playing with the pillows in different shapes, making boats and logs and all sorts to slide down a little slope on...

Walked back to Söder in the sunny afternoon, the colours are amazing this time of year! George was really tired when we got back in time for dinner, so just a quick bite for him and then it was time for bed!

I struggled to sort out the underfloor heating whilst Matt went and picked up farmor Christine!

Pizza time!

We try to make the start of the weekend a little special by making food we all like, and food that George can help prepare. It's such a lovely feeling when Friday night arrives, knowing we'll all be together to eat and relax, something that isn't always possible in the week.

This Friday was Pizza Friday! George rolled his own, and chose his toppings! We were sat for a long time at the table, just eating and chatting away. And then we had a quick chat to farfar Andie on Skype, before watching Iron Man II on dvd... Or well, Matt watched it, I fell asleep... A lovely lovely evening!

Bath time!

A pair of goggles make bath time more fun! And a sort of wide brimmed hat with a hole in it for the hair to stick out in the top, is brilliant for getting George to wash his hair without getting water in his eyes! I had one when I was little too!

Daddy Matt's a champion!

Right, so these pics are stolen from lovely Stella's blog, cause her mum is always so good at bringing the camera...

George and Stella cheered on their daddies from the sideline at the last game of the season. 'Good shot daddy!' shouted George. And 'Good save daddy!'. Ha ha.

End of the game meant Tudor Arms won their group! George ran across the field to congratulate his dad and was carried whilst Matt thanked all the other players. Very sweet!

A very nice Sunday afternoon indeed!

George's first Huvudfoting!

Was amazed the other day when I asked if George could draw a 'gubbe' (a stick man). He made his first Huvudfoting (headfooter... we call them that since the arms and legs come straight out of the head)!

He even made hair on the head and fingers on one of the hands...

The second one was a very tall gubbe...

Funny to is that he tries to hold the pen as an adult would, resulting in very weak pencil streaks, due to him not being able to put too much pressure on the pen. Sweetie!

"Poor us"

George is obsessed with presents. Presents for him... He wants them all the time. Yesterday, in the car, he told me he wanted a little black and white car. I said he couldn't have it. I said I want a new pair of shoes, but I can't have that either. He went silent, then said "Poor us"!

Horrible throat virus and a motorbike!

I could tell there was something fishy about George already on Monday afternoon. Matey Alfred plus mum came back to ours after dagis, and after ten minutes of intensive happy play, George decided he wanted Alfred to go home... He was whiney and miserable and sat on the sofa sulking...

Apologised for his behaviour to Josefin, Alfred's mum, and said it's probably Monday-tiredness-behaviour, or he's coming down with something, because he's normally not like that... A moment of 'back to normal' when we had coffee and delicious banana cake, but then back to sulking...

Ten minutes after Alfred and Josefin had gone, I found George fast asleep on the sofa... Nothing would wake him up. Not dinner, not his milk... So I put him straight to bed. By then he was fairly warm too, but I kept my fingers crossed.

It didn't help, he woke up Tuesday morning with a fever... Which explained his mood at least... Complained about pain in the mouth, but seemed quite ok otherwise. And then daddy Matt came home with a big surprise! A smokin' hot balancing motorbike bicycle! Waow! It hit the jackpot! George was so happy and so proud for being able to go on it! What a lovely present!

On Wednesday morning George started crying as soon as he tried to eat. I managed to look inside his mouth and saw the most nasty broken blisters at the back of his throat! Poor little thing! Got an appointment with the doctor's straight away, and he was so good when they took a blood test and swiped his throat with this long horrible cotton stick. And then the stupid doctor still couldn't tell me what was wrong, but she also pressed on his tummy and he reacted, so she sent us to Astrid Lindgren, the children's hospital, for them to check his appendix (blindtarm)!! Silly woman! The doctor at A.L looked in G's mouth and confirmed a nasty virus, but nothing else... Felt a little stupid that too...

So we just had to go back home, and continue to give him painkillers to ease the pain a little. What's good is that he didn't have a fever, only the pain in the mouth (which is bad enough, but add fever on to it and it would be worse...). Luckily his new racing motorbike distracts him! And small pancakes (plättar) with a little sugar went down well, so hopefully going in the right direction!

On Thursday, lovely mormor came and looked after him for the day. Still the red blisters in his throat, but they seemed to have calmed down slightly. Decided he could go back to dagis on the Friday, but then dagis rang and said they'd sent home four kids that day due to something going around, so if we could keep G home for one more day, it would probably prevent him catching something else... So again, super-mormor came to the rescue! Matt stayed home in the morning, and I tried to get back fairly early from work, but she still managed to play with him loads, AND help us with some washing and dusting! Super duper mormor! Thank you so much!

Now it's Saturday morning and George seems more or less back to normal. Haven't allowed me to look inside his mouth yet, but will do soon.

Oh, and just saw a 'Congratulations!' post on Amy's profile on Facebook! Does that mean Dylan's baby brother or sister has arrived...?
